What To Cook for Hanukkah (whether you celebrate or not!)

November 28, 2018 by zenbelly Leave a Comment

Welp, it’s one of those years that Hanukkah falls pretty much right after Thanksgiving! The first night is Sunday the 2nd- that means it’s time to start frying stuff. If you aren’t familiar with the story of Hanukkah, here’s a little graphic that should clear it up:

hanukkah
Except it was oil, not cell phone battery. We talk more about the story of Hanukkah in The New Yiddish Kitchen, which I highly recommend. I’m biased, but it really is a great book.

Whether you celebrate Hanukkah or not, here are some fun things to cook next week:

fried chicken and latke waffles

FRIED CHICKEN & LATKE WAFFLES. It’s a new take on an old classic.

potato latkes

LATKES – I’ve made approximately 8 million latkes, and I’ve gotten pretty good at it. The only Latke recipe you’ll need!

Instantpot apple sauce

Did you know you can make Apple Sauce in the Instant Pot? You can! And bonus: it’s the best Apple Sauce ever.

French Onion Brisket with Porcini Mushrooms

FRENCH ONION BRISKET WITH PORCINI MUSHROOMS. It’s even better made the day ahead, which makes for easy entertaining. Or made over the weekend and enjoyed during the week!

DONUT HOLES. Hanukkah is for donuts. Fried ones, obvs.
