Lemonade is the epitome of the refreshing summer beverage. And this homemade, honey-sweetened Raspberry Lemonade is certainly no exception.
With Labor Day weekend starting tomorrow, I figured I’d do something a bit different with my Thirsty Thursday post. My reasoning is mostly selfish, I’ll admit! We’re having a BBQ on Sunday, and I’ve been brainstorming what to make for food and beverages. I was thinking about making a big pitcher of something boozy, and a big pitcher of something non-boozy.
But that’s starting to sound like a lot of laboring for Labor Day.
So here’s my solution: Make a BIG batch of something non-boozy that is terrific with just about any booze added to it, for those partaking. Kids are happy, non-drinkers are happy, and the boozers are happy. Yay!
This recipe is dead simple to make, and I’m providing the bare bones concept- lemons and raspberries. But there are so many variations to it that it’s like 8 recipes in one, so we’re kind of even, yeah? Sweet.
Here are some ideas!
- Make it bubbly! Use sparkling water in place of flat.
- Make it minty! Muddle a few sprigs of mint leaves into the honey & water.
- Make it limey! Use half lime juice and half lemon.
- Make it a spa day! Add a sliced cucumber.
- Make it fruity! Add more types of fruit, like strawberries and blackberries.
- Make it spicy! Use the ginger syrup from my Moscow Mule recipe to sweeten it instead of honey & water.
- Make it 5-Alive! (Remember that stuff? It was my favorite as a kid) Add all the citrus you can find.
As far as booze goes, just about any type goes with this; Tequila, vodka, bourbon, gin… If you want to really oomph it up, add a splash of elderberry liquor. Now we’re talkin’!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! If you’re stumped on what to make for a BBQ you’re either hosting or attending, check out my recipe index; I’ve got your summer BBQ faves right up top.
Cheers!
