Thank You’s, WTF is going on? & Blessed

First off – Thank You for all the birthday wishes yesterday! It truly made what would have been a crappy day in the hospital a great day.

Secondly – Sorry some of you had no idea why i was in the hospital. I guess I’ve had a hard time telling people I was sick and really didn’t want anyone worrying about me. I’m kinda weird like that, but to answer your questions here’s a quick run down for those who have asked.

WTF is going on?
For the last few years I’ve been living with Chronic Ulcerative Colitis and have been through all the stages of meds with no luck. The only thing that has helped me get by has been high doses of steroids which I needed to get off of ASAP. The solution was to have my entire large intestine (otherwise known as colon) removed. Sounds pretty sexy, huh !? The surgery (know as ileal pouch-anal anastomosis or a J-Pouch) went fine and I should have been out last Friday, but my small intestine stopped working after a few days and I ended up getting sick. Now everything has fired back up and I’m good to go. A follow up surgery will be done in three months to hook up a new colon that has been made out of my small intestine, which is healing inside my body. The next surgery should be a lot faster recovery.

The best birthday present this year (aside from hanging out with my beautiful wife and her bringing me Newts for lunch) – the doctors told me I would get to go home today. It’s been a long 9 days and I’m looking forward to my bed.

Last, but not least – Thank you for all the prayers, emails, txt’s, cards and flowers. I’m so Blessed to have such great friends and family and can’t wait to see you all soon.

I love all you – Magic
